About Think Careers

THINK Careers is an interactive virtual career exploration event sponsored by GEAR UP Idaho and Junior Achievement of Idaho. THINK Careers provides the opportunity for Idaho's students (ages 13 and older) to learn about career options available in Idaho and beyond. This event is FREE and packed full of exciting features!

Event Features:

  • Exhibit Hall Booths: Visit over 90 company booths and ask questions via public chat. Booths will feature an overview of the company, examples of company job postings, and other interesting facts and information. Colleges and universities will also host booths to help connect students to educational programs that match their career goals.
  • Exhibit Hall Mini Presentations: Different companies will host mini presentations featuring exciting careers every 15 minutes. (In booths)
  • Main Auditorium: An industry panel discussion or nationally recognized company will be featured each hour.
  • Junior Achievement Lounge: Volunteers will lead mock interview practice sessions throughout the day.
  • Junior Achievement Auditorium: Experienced professionals will teach live lessons on resume building, career development, and other helpful topics.
  • Swag Bags: Students will be able to save documents and information in their ‘swag bags’ to view at a later time.
  • Prizes and Contests: Students will be able to earn prizes by participating in the scavenger hunt and leaderboard contests.

CURRICULUM , ACTIVITY BOOKLET, and STUDENT EVENT GUIDE

  • JA Curriculum: The Junior Achievement Inspire curriculum is currently available under the EVENT MATERIALS tab on the event website.
  • THINK Career Activity Booklet: A Student Activity Booklet will be available in early January. This booklet will provide a number of activities for students that correspond to different features of the event. The activity booklet can be printed prior to the event so that students can submit their work as a class assignment. Activities will accommodate single class period or longer time frames of participation.
  • Student Event Guide: A Student Event Guide providing a schedule of presentations, instructions for accessing and navigating the event, and conduct expectations will be provided to all registered students and staff prior to the event.

Registration can be completed individually or as a group.

  • Individual Registration: Students can register independently by clicking the REGISTER button below.
  • Group Registration: Teachers, counselors, or program managers can register students in bulk by clicking on the GROUP REGISTRATION button below. In this session you will hear from someone who does matchmaking, someone who works to feed thousands of people, someone who plans events to fundraise, and someone who is there for people who are facing a life changing event!

Frequently Asked Questions

We are working hard to get this ready! We will notify all registered teachers when it is ready and will add it to the event website.
Those wishing to register a group will need to click on the Group Registration button and download the registration template. Teachers or school staff will need to have access to the SDE's apps portal in order to create an OTIS ticket. Most administrators or Advanced Opportunities Coordinators already have this access. If you are a school staff who needs access or a community group that is not affiliated with a school district, please contact Jacque Deahl at jdeahl@sde.idaho.gov for assistance. PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL STUDENT LISTS! The SDE's portal allows for a secure method to transfer student data.
The longer a student participates, the more they will be able to get out of the event. Activities will accomodate single-class period participation as well as participation for longer periods of time.
Yes! Once all of the presentations have been scheduled, we will provide an agenda so that students can plan to attend sessions that are most interesting to them.
Yes! The process to get everything set up is a little slow but we will be updating the website on a regular basis.
